AMI Logo

The Australasian Maritime Institute has been providing training  to the Australian and International Maritime Industries since its inception in 1992.   We are the largest  private training provider servicing the Marine Industry and is Western Australian owned.  We are a pro-active and inventive organisation providing exceptional business service solutions.

Brief History in Background

Recognised as a Quality Endorsed Training Organisation (QETO) in 1999 and went on to become the first marine training organisation to comply with the Australian Quality Training Framework in 2003. In 2007, the Australasian Maritime Institute had taken a positive role in complying with the new 2007 AQTF Quality System. Our main goal has always been to strive to produce quality flexible training that is compliant with National Standards.

In line with that goal we appreciate the importance or partnering with the Western Australia Fishing Industry Council, Rock Lobster Council, Primary Industry Council, Fisheries Department, Woodside, Enfield, Department for Planning and Infrastructure, AMSA, National Safety Marine Committee and other such organisations around Australia.

Introduction

Operating nation wide and now out of New Zealand.  AMI is at the forefront of training.  We are ranked amongst the top three Recognised Training Organisations delivering Maritime Training Australia Wide and the only Australian training provider delivering Maritime Training in all states. Quality Assurance and Safety Management are an integral part of our ethics.

With the new Government Initiative to introduce a single national system for maritime safety regulations, AMI is participating in the current round of seminars to establish the principle ground work for implementation in 2010.  For the first time Australian Mariners will receive an Australian Certificate of Competence rather than a state ticket. AMI is proud to support and be a part of this initiative.

The type of maritime companies we have successfully assisted includes: Shipping Companies, Managers,Owners, Charterers, Ports, Dry Dock, Ship Builders and offshore Rigs.

We pride ourselves on our policy to implement a continuous state of expansion and improvement of our courses to cater for the ever changing challenges facing both corporate and private individuals in the commercial world of today and tomorrow

Recognising our capabilities, strengths and the synergy we have with other industries has led us to take a progressive approach to implement partnerships in certain key sectors

The institute is proud to say that we are sharing our expertise with the Oil & Gas, Civil & Commercial Engineering Industries and mining. As part of our vision, we look forward to pioneering new specialised courses into Australia as demand and need dictates.

So, why AMI? What sets us apart? There are three excellent reasons:

First: A level of service that is second to none where quality is paramount in the range of programs that AMI has to offer that include some unique courses not available anywhere else in WA. We attribute this success to our competent and highly experienced lecturers that have backgrounds that incorporate outstanding levels of expertise.

Second: We are renowned for the huge savings we provide for both companies and individuals through exclusive funding not accessible through other training providers Australia wide*

Third: Our courses can include specialised and invaluable practical training aboard our training vessels "MV Bilyara" and "MV Koryou Maru" which has become a critical element in the eyes of the Marine State Authority in WA as part of the assessment process for licensing.

My staff and I would like to welcome aboard both company and individual and we wish you the the very best in your endeavours

Sincerely
Bernard Unwin
