A lot of our followers will recognise the team from Cave Man BBQ WA as main stays from around AMI. Congratulations to Mike and his team on their showing at WA's premiere Charity BBQ event Smokin' in the City. Taking out the gold plate for Best Professional Team and second place honours for their Brisket. ... See MoreSee Less

Well I am mostly recovered from the events of the weekend and what a great time the team from the cave had up at Smokin' in the City 2017. We managed to take the Gold Plate for Best Professional Team from an albeit small field but we were in it with the best. I look forward to being one of the Smokin' in the City professional alumni with Julie-ann Tindal-Davies and all the rest for years to come. We also took a second place for Brisket, falling to Mike Tarn and the Buck Owens team. Good on ya mate for the passion you brought, I look forward to testing my metal on you again in the future. Congratulations are in order for Grill Sergeant Barbecue on the Grand Championship and Stephen Carter for the Reserve GC. The real reason for the post are the thank you that cannot be said enough. Stephan David Jenner. Sir, the passion, dignity and sense of family you bring to the Smoking' brand events is the draw card that separates it from the pack. The work you put in leading up to, during and the clean up after is inspirational and something for us mere mortals to be in awe of. To quote my countrymen Mike Myers "We're not worthy." Thank you. My sponsors, Australasian Maritime Institute - RTO 2407, for those who don't know, full time I work with these guys, a family business that has taken me in, built me up and supported me with my small business by allowing me to work flexi-time and providing me with training in First Aid, Fire Response and Food handling in line with Australian Standards. Mandurah Bowling Club, over the last seven months I have been working with the MBRC. The use of their kitchen and their support is greatly appreciated, a special thank you for their VP, his wife and their Office Manager and husband for making the trip to the city to support the event. My suppliers. Rodney Robinson and his team over at RJ's Quality Meats - Baldivis for supplying my competition pork butt snd some of my ribs. Raymond Caldwell down at Warnbro quality meats Butcher for the bulk of my ribs including the ones I turned in as well as the use of his Jr. BatMan to clean up my little BBQ. Mat at Barbecue Bazaar. We miss you and soccer mate! Baldivis Farms, these folks were new to my suppliers but the service was outstanding! All of the greenery used in my turn in boxes was not only supplied by them but it was harvested fresh and delivered to my home on the Saturday of the competition. I urge all Baldiviants. (what I call myself and others from Baldivis) to check out these guys for your veggies! Our nominated charity, for this event it was Lifeline WA, we have all known someone that should use a service like this and hopefully they reached out to it. I am happy to put my time into the support of this worthy cause. Finally my team, Joshua Tyers the CMiT(Cave Man in Training). I am so proud of the work you put into the turn in boxes, the research you did first an then the concentration you put in on the day. Your skills are developing and you show improvement every day. You and your parents choosing me as your mentor is the true accolade. Robbo the wheel man. Franklin got nothing on you mate. Thanks for getting my team and equipment there and back again. I hate to be the one to tell you however, after watching the Food Rescue Category, you indeed CAN vegetation on a BBQ. haha. Mark Skates and Angela Fury, you guys are the best PR team and cheers squad that smoked meat can buy. Thanks for spending the day with us. Lastly, but always first in my heart. Karyn Rideout, my #cavelady without you I wouldn't be doing this thing I love. The shopping trips, the online research, the trips to and from the various places I may be to deliver whatever it is I have forgotten, and raising the Cave Man Jr. and Cave Princess. Everything you do elevates me and inspires courage in me to reach a little further. Thank you for letting me help you along your recovery from vegetarianism.
